ကခ်င္ျပည္နယ္တြင္ ကာလၾကာျမင့္စြာျဖစ္ပြားေနသည့္ ပဋိပကၡသည္ ၂၀၁၃ ခုႏွစ္၊ ေအာက္တိုဘာလ (၂၈) ရက္ေန႔ မွာေတာ႔ မန္ေဒးပါ ရြာေလးဆီသို႔ဆိုက္ေရာက္လာခဲ႔ပါသည္။ အဲဒီေန႔ကိုေတာ႔ ရြာရိွစာသင္ေက်ာင္းေလးရဲ႕ေက်ာင္းအုပ္ဆရာၾကီး ဦးလာႏူးတစ္ေယာက္ ဘယ္ေတာ႔မွ ေမ႔ႏိုင္လိမ္႔မည္မဟုတ္ပါ။

ကခ်င္ျပည္နယ္တြင္ လြန္ခဲ့ေသာႏွစ္ႏွစ္ ပဋိပကၡမ်ားျဖစ္ပြားခ်ိန္မွာစ၍ မေသာင္းမီမီႏွင့္ ၄င္း၏ ေမာင္ေလးကေတာ့ စစ္ေဘးေရွာင္ေနရပ္စြန္ခြာသူမ်ားေနထိုင္ရာ ဗန္းေမာ္ၿမိဳ ႔အနီးရွိ လီဆူးစစ္ေဘးေရွာင္စခန္းတြင္ ေနထိုင္လ်က္ရွိသည္။

သူတို႔မိသားစုသည္ ေန႔စားအလုပ္သမားမ်ားျဖစ္ျပီး မၾကာခဏ ခရီးထြက္ေလ႔ရိွပါသည္။ သူမတို႔မိသားစုမွာ အသီးအရြက္စိုက္ပ်ိဳးျခင္း၊ ၀က္ေမြးျခင္းျဖင့္ မိသားစုစားဝတ္ေနေရးအတြက္ လံုးပမ္းၾကရသည္။

School provides displaced families with sense of hope

28 October 2013 was the day Kachin State’s long-running conflict finally reached the village of Mong Dein Pa. It was also a day the head teacher at the local school, Mr La Nu, 54, would never forget.

Since fleeing conflict in their region of Kachin Sate two years ago, Taung Mi Mi and her brother live in Lisu Camp for internally displaceed persons near the town of Bhamo.

Their family is a day labourer who travels frequently; the family work a small plot of rented land outside the camp to grow vegetables and raise pigs to supplement their meagre income.

“The world changes with your example, not with your opinions”: that’s what I found written on a wall somewhere during a trip in Central America. I was still a student, my last year of University. And that sentence contributed to inspiring all the following steps I’ve taken. That’s why probably it came back to my mind today, entering the compound of Myitkyina University.

Kachin State, 4 April 2014 - Landmines and explosive remnants of war injure and kill people every day around the world. Harmful devices left behind from times of conflict or placed intentionally continue to cause harm to vulnerable populations, including women and children. They also deny access to land that could be used for agriculture and livelihoods, inhibit the delivery of humanitarian assistance, and endanger refugees and internally displaced persons. Unfortunately this is also the case in Myanmar.
